About this piece
An imperial oval classical drawer handle with a gently curved oval bar profile. Material: Zinc. Available in AB and PT. Sizes: 78mm and 96mm. A timeless Zinc drawer handle for solid wood furniture, painted kitchens, and heritage-revival interior cabinetry.
Part of VDH's CD Classical Series, the Crete Oval is an imperial oval drawer handle: a gently curved oval bar in zinc, classical in shape rather than contemporary. It is offered in two colours, AB and PT; AB is antique brass, which reads warm and darkened against solid wood furniture and heritage-revival cabinetry. Neither size is large - 78mm suits the narrow drawer fronts of a chest or dresser, 96mm the wider drawers and shutters of a painted kitchen. Choose it over a plain knob when the joinery in a room is period rather than modern. You will find more in the same spirit in the antique collection.
Size guide
CC (centre-to-centre) is the distance between the two screw holes. Replacing old handles? Measure hole to hole and match the CC below. New fronts? A handle looks best at about a third of the drawer's width — choose the CC closest to that. Length is the handle end to end; depth is how far it stands off the door.
| Size (CC) | Length | Width |
|---|---|---|
| 78 mm | 108 mm | 42 mm |
| 96 mm | 132 mm | 52 mm |

The craft
Each piece is finished by hand, so no two catch the light identically — the small variations are the signature of real handwork, not a defect. Metals are hand-polished before sealing; ceramic is glazed and fired piece by piece.
“Evening light moves across the room. The handle catches it first — soft glow over warm metal — and for a second the drawer front looks less like storage, more like furniture. That's the difference a considered handle makes.”
